1. After Installation run the game once in order to create any needed files, for example configuration files.
2. Go into the game settings and set parameters as you wish, then exit. If you are using a multi monitor/21:9 setup complete step 3 & if you are using SLI then complete step 4 otherwise skip to step 5.
3. For multiple monitors a fix is needed to have the game display properly 100% of the time. This fix can be found for both 21:9 monitors and for surround/eyefinity setups on the WSGF here. This fix involves replacing the witcher.exe with the new version linked on that page. Detailed instructions to follow are on that page. Always remember to make a backup of the witcher.exe in case something goes wrong.
4. With SLI setups the lighting is broken, light sources shine through walls.
You will need to download Nvidia Inspector (see important software page). After installing Nvidia Inspector to the directory of your choice open the program nvidiaprofileinspector.exe and select The Witcher profile from the drop down menu, then select the drop down menu for 'SLI compatibility bits" and change it to 0x02400005. Afterwards click 'Apply Changes' in the top right and close Nvidia Profile Inspector.
5. On higher resolution setups the text becomes very small, Bigger Fonts for High Resolution Gaming is a mod that will increase the font size. Instructions for installation are included with the mods readme and on the mod page.
6. The following mods require a folder called 'Override' to be created within the data folder of the game, do that now.
7. If you wish to play with a less obtrusive HUD then the Extreme Immersion MOD clears most of the HUD away. This is visually better however it also means that you'll need to use visual clues and memory during game play. Instructions for installation in readme, however it simply involves unpacking the files into the Override folder.
8. The Texturen mod was created to upgrade many in game textures, however the difference is minimal, you can compare the before and after screenshots on the mod page. I chose not to run this mod but I have included it for completeness. Again the instructions are included as a readme.
9. Again the Hi Res Character Models mod had a minor improvement although this was more noticeable, especially during cut scenes so I chose to install it. Instructions are in (you guessed it) the readme included with the mod, however it is the same as installing the previous mods.
10. Tired of seeing swords loosely stuck on Geralt's back? Well the Scabbard Mod fixes that by adding scabbards back into the game. Be warned though that I found this mod gave me significant lag and caused my gpu driver to crash so I chose not to run it. Your mileage may vary though so feel free to install it. Simply run the .exe, direct it to your install directory and the installer will do the rest. Also keep in mind that the swords will clip through the scabbards, which is probably why the devs decided not to include them in the final release.
11. The Perfect Blood Mod allows enemies and Geralt to receive wounds and enhances the visual appearance of wounds and blood. To install extract the folder 'Perfect Blood' and all its contents into the Override folder you created in step 6, then download the Perfect Blood Mod Fix and extract this file into the override/Perfect Blood folder and let it replace the file within.
12. There are two options for modifying the rain, firstly removing it with the Stop the Rain mod or improving it with the Perfect Rain mod. Both of these require extraction to the Override folder you created in step 6. The Stop the Rain mod can break a quest in game if you're foolish, I prefer the Perfect rain mod personally.

13. Two small fixes for bugs in the game are the fix to stop han from giving barbacane as loot and a *spoiler alert* fix for a particular quest. Install both of these too by extracting the files to the override folder you created in step 6.

14. If you wish to skip all the intro's and load straight to the game menu then go to *your game directory*\data\scripts and open MOVIES.lua with any text editor (I recommend Notepad++).
Find the following line:
local Intro = {"cs_publisher", "cs_developer", "cs_engine", "CS_BLOCKEND", "cs_intro", "CS_BLOCKEND", "cs_title"}
And change it to:
local Intro = {"cs_title"}
To undo this simply change that line back to how it was. You may also selectively remove different parts of the intro by only deleting one part, for example if you wanted to keep the intro movie then you would leave it as:
local Intro = {"cs_intro", "cs_title"}
Afterwards save and close this file.

15. If you still want to improve The Witcher: Enhanced Edition's visuals this game will look even better after it has been super-sampled. If you are not running a multi-monitor setup this can easily be achieved using the native super-sampling technique of your choice such as Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) in the Nvidia control panel or by creating a custom resolution again through the Nvidia control panel.
If you are using a surround setup with multiple monitors then Dynamic Super Resolution is not supported, however there is a workaround that will allow you to select resolutions above what your monitor will natively display. Using this work around I am able to get my 5760x1080 display to render at 8640x1620 for example and this will allow you to select a resolution of 8640x1620 in game.
