MULTI-MONITOR SURROUND AND DSR WORK AROUND
When Nvidia released the Dynamic Super Resolution tech with the 900 series cards I was dismayed to see that I couldn't use it with a surround setup of three monitors at a resolution of 5760x1080.
I then thought I would just create a custom resolution like in this guide, still no luck as when a multi- monitor surround resolution is active custom resolutions cannot be created.
The solution is to create custom resolutions BEFORE activating a surround setup for each monitor.
I then thought I would just create a custom resolution like in this guide, still no luck as when a multi- monitor surround resolution is active custom resolutions cannot be created.
The solution is to create custom resolutions BEFORE activating a surround setup for each monitor.
1. Open Nvidia Control Panel and then choose the option under "Configure SLI, Surround, PhysX" to Activate all displays then click apply.
2. Under the "Change resolution" section select the first monitor then click the "customise..." button.
3. Click the "Create Custom Resolution..." button.
4. In this next screen change the Horizontal Pixels and Vertical lines to a multiple of your monitors native resolution. For example for a 1920x1080 display you could try scaling up by 1.5x so you would input 1920x1.5=2880 into the Horizontal pixels field and 1080x1.5=1620 into the Vertical Lines field.
You can also try increasing the refresh rate, some monitors can go significantly higher than the default 60 hz. Be warned that the highest you can go is the slowest of the three monitors you have in your surround setup. Increasing the refresh rate is not needed for upscaling the resolution though.

Once you have input the parameters you wish to use click the "Test" button and if the test is successful then you can accept it otherwise wait until it reverts back to this screen and try some lower parameters.
5. Make sure you apply the resolution you wish to use by selecting it from the list and clicking the "Apply" button in the bottom right.
YOU NEED TO REPEAT STEPS 2 - 5 FOR EACH MONITOR!
6. After setting the custom resolution for each monitor (they must all be the same) return to the "configure SLI, Surround, PhysX" section and select "Span displays with Surround" then click the "Configure..." button.
7. You will now observe that your upscaled resolution is available as a surround option in the "Resolution" drop down menu. you can enable it as you would a normal surround resolution from here.
If the resolution is not present either a mistake was made in one of the previous steps, Nvidia has broken this work around with a new driver or you need to click the "add or Remove Resolutions" button which is the very easy to miss button to the right of the "resolution" drop down menu circled red in the following picture. Once you have done that then select the resolutions you want to be available and click the right pointing arrow to add them to the list.
And from now on your new resolution will be available in your games menu. Note however that some games do not respond well to a higher resolution. For example the ArmA 3 launcher loses it's scaling and doing this makes it impossible to launch the game without another work around.
